Bloggers Wanted: Number Two Contenders (May) Want You!

If you’re a fan of Number Two Contenders, and I truly hope you are (otherwise, reading this is very peculiar), you’ve noticed that lately we’ve had a pair of “substitute” contenders join us to share their opinions.  Both Kyle (@RasslinWithLife) and Shannon (@Love2HulkSmash) did an outstanding job with their initial posts here at #2C and I expect that both will be returning to this space sooner rather than later.  In fact, their posts have been so popular and we had such fun having them on board that we’re hungry for more.

To that end. . .

Are you a fan of professional wrestling?  Do you have strong opinions on the subject, both past and present, that you feel needs to be shared with a rather small but growing audience?  Have you ever considered starting a blog but, be it from fear, ignorance or just pure laziness, have never gotten started?  Are you able to throw a few sentences together without your spell-check going haywire?

If so, The Number Two Contenders might want you!

Here’s the deal.  We’re not looking to add any full-time people, but if you have an idea for a blog, article, diary or rant, we’d be interested in taking a look at it.  If we like what we see, we’ll post it, giving you full credit for your writing.  Think of us as a very small-time wrestling literary review.

Much in the way our good friends and, in my mind, the best home for fan-driven wrestling discussion on the Internet, The New Age Insiders (@NewAgeInsiders) says to “Be Heard”, we here at Number Two Contenders say. . .

Be Read.

Since I am an actual teacher as well as playing one on the ‘Net, here are some brainstormed ideas you could use to inspire some pieces.

  • Comments on the current product (though remember, we’re all about #PromotingPositivity, so whining and complaining won’t get you very far.  Unless, of course, it’s hilarious.)
  • Thoughts and musings on wrestling’s history, whether through WWE Network’s archives or your own memories.
  • Fantasy Bookings
  • Your own history with professional wrestling.
  • Introspectives on a specific talent, match or event.
  • Thought experiments, aka the “What If” - What if Austin had never left WCW?  What if Owen hadn’t died?  etc.

As you can see, the sky is the limit.  However, there’s always some. . .

Fine Print

The Number Two Contenders reserve the right to select which blogs are posted and which are not.  We may send back constructive criticism to you on how we feel your work could be improved, as well as make any minor cosmetic edits necessary.  While you will likely be made aware of these changes, we will not necessarily be asking for your approval.

So, basically, If you’re a ‘my way or the highway’ type, then we are definitely not the droids you’re looking for.

We also reserve the right to be selective in terms of the ideas or blogs we choose to post.  While unlike WWE, we have never claimed to be PG rated, we also will always lean towards good taste.  Blogs laden with profanity or elsewise inappropriate will not be considered for publication.

Interested?

Feel free to contact us via Twitter to discuss your ideas (@The2Contenders) and send your finished, polished work to The2Contenders@gmail.com
